Mayfly larva
A mayfly larva is a rather large insect. Its characteristic feature is its whitish color. The larva has six legs, three hairy projections on the abdomen and two hairy antennae. A mayfly larva is considered a proper bait for fishing all species of carps. The insect lives in silt, amidst thick underwater vegetation or in a clay underwater bank. Mayfly larvae are stored in moist clean canvas cloth or in a jar with water, in a dark and cool place. The water in the jar must be changed as often as possible. A mayfly larva is hooked with a long shank hook, starting from the side of its head. Hook’s point is to be concealed in the abdomen. If only small larvae are left, several are hooked at once.
