Roe
Both canned caviar and fresh roe extracted directly from a fish may be used as bait. Not only trout and grayling are caught using roe as bait, but also perch, ruffe and rudd. Roe extracted from a fish needs to be dried in the air. Dried roe is better suited for baiting a hook. You can also put it into boiling water for a while. In this case roe will lose its vivid red color, but it will stick much better to the hook. Hook roe carefully, not letting its inner liquid flow out, by gently piercing its pellicle and threading the hook through it.
